An association
built on gratitude.
Pour La Joie is a non-profit association with no commercial motive. We believe gratuitous kindness still matters, and we give it a modern form, both catching and lasting.
A token, an effigy, a message.
Pour La Joie operates a dematerialized account system called porteJoie — a personal wallet of virtual tokens called Joies. Each Joie commemorates a late loved or honorable one or a place or value of particular significance, and is issued in exchange for a symbolic one-euro contribution to a reserve fund.
Holders may freely give Joies to another account, accompanied by a few personal words — a thank you, a recognition, a quiet salute — creating a chain of small, deliberate gestures.
Disinterested. Transparent. Decentralized.
The association has no commercial purpose. Funds collected for the issuance of Joies remain permanently booked in a reserve account. The interest on the reserve, together with additional donations, covers the running costs of the system.
Verification that an effigy honors a late person, a place or a value embodying our shared values is decentralized and transparent. Anyone can propose an effigy for public or private use, subject to review.
A name born from loss.
The project crystallized around the memory of Jean-Pierre Joussemet, who lost his life in the act of terrorism committed on the 14th of July 2016 in Nice while protecting his disabled wife. The first Joies bear his effigy, and the founders chose his initial — the letter J — as the heart of the association's identity.
A J, and a 手.
The letter J recurs throughout: joie (joy), jeton (token), jewel, game, jonquil — the daffodil that marks the return of spring — and jeunesse (youth). The logo carries the Chinese character 手, meaning "hand" — the hand that gives, the hand that receives, the chain of gratitude that links them.
Local first, then everywhere.
Initial efforts focus on the Rochechouart district in Haute-Vienne and on the Polytechnique alumni community — two communities the founders hold dear. From there, the association is open to grow, both nationally and internationally, one Joie at a time.
